Ghanaian Catering in London
From engagement ceremonies to white weddings, naming days and milestone birthdays. Authentic Ghanaian cooking, premium plating, and the warmth of home delivered across London.
Cooking That Feels Like Home
Ghanaian Food, Done the Way Aunties Approve
Ghanaian catering in London is a busy market, but very few teams cook the food the way it should be cooked. Spice levels get diluted, the stock gets shortcut, the jollof goes wrong, and guests notice immediately. We built Mijays Bar to fix that. Our kitchen team cooks Ghanaian food the way it was taught at home in Accra, Kumasi and Tema, then plates it with the polish a London event deserves.
We cater for engagement ceremonies, white weddings, naming days, funerals, sixtieth birthdays and corporate cultural events across Greater London. Whether it is a one-table family dinner for twenty or a marquee wedding for six hundred, the same standards apply. Real stock. Real heat. Real palm oil where it belongs. Nothing thinned out for the British palate.
Where it elevates the event, we also bring our signature mocktail bar, drinks display and canapé service. That combination gives families the comfort of authentic Ghanaian food alongside a luxury bar experience that feels current and photo-ready.

Why Ghanaian Families Book Mijays
Authenticity First, Polish Second, Compromise Never
Many Ghanaian families in London end up cooking their own events because the catering options on offer either compromise the food or compromise the presentation. We refuse to make that trade-off. Our kitchen is run by chefs who grew up cooking these dishes, and our front-of-house is run by a hospitality team trained to luxury hotel standards.
Every catering brief starts with a tasting conversation. You tell us which dishes are non-negotiable, which family member's recipe you want us to honour, and which moments of the day need to feel especially special. We build the menu and the service plan around that, then walk you through it before the event so nothing is left to chance.
For weddings and large events, we coordinate directly with your venue, planner, MC and DJ. The catering should support the flow of the day, not interrupt it. That means courses landing at the right moment, drinks arriving without being chased, and a quiet, organised pack-down so the family can relax once the last guest has left.

Client Stories
What Clients Say
"The jollof was perfect. The waakye was perfect. My mother stopped worrying after the first plate landed. That alone made it worth every penny."
Akosua B.
Engagement Ceremony, Croydon
"We needed a caterer who understood both the Ghanaian traditional and the British venue. Mijays handled both with grace. The team felt like family by the end of the night."
Kwesi & Ama
White Wedding, Essex
"We've used three caterers in five years. This was the first time guests asked us for the company's contact instead of just the recipe."

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you cook authentic Ghanaian food or a watered-down version?
Authentic. Our kitchen is led by Ghanaian chefs who cook the dishes the way they learned them at home. We adjust heat to your preference but we never compromise on stock, spice base or ingredients.
Can you cater for both Ghanaian and non-Ghanaian guests at the same event?
Yes. We design dual menus that keep the traditional dishes centre-stage while offering accessible European-style options for guests less familiar with West African food. Nothing on the menu is filler.
Do you supply traditional drinks like palm wine and sobolo?
Yes. Authentic palm wine, sobolo (zobo), asaana, pito and a full traditional drinks bar can be added to your catering package. These are most commonly served at engagement ceremonies and naming days.
Can you cater funerals and memorial services?
Yes, and we treat these with the discretion and dignity they deserve. Our team will work quietly in the background, scaling food and service to the rhythm of the day without intruding.
How many guests can you cater for?
We routinely cater between 30 and 600 guests across London. Larger events are scoped on request and may require additional kitchen and service infrastructure depending on your venue.
Do you cater outside London?
Yes. We regularly travel into Kent, Essex and the surrounding Home Counties. Travel and logistics are quoted transparently as part of your bespoke proposal.
Can we taste the food before booking?
Tastings can be arranged for confirmed bookings, typically eight to twelve weeks before the event date. This gives you the chance to finalise the menu and meet the chef before the day.
